TFT Set 5.5 Patch 11.17: Full notes and updates

Publish date: 2023-05-31

Big and small adjustments are taking place in the Teamfight Tactics Set 5.5 Patch 11.17, from a spatula drop system change to traits like Sentinel and Spellweaver receiving additional tweaks.

The “balance nudges,” according to Riot Games’ game design director Stephen “Mortdog” Mortimer, slated to take place in Patch 11.17 include a system change that will no longer count a Spatula as one of the 10 Raptor component drops. Spatula drops will only appear in bonus Orbs starting with TFT Patch 11.17. Players can also use a new TFT match history tab that’s located near the Set 5.5 battle pass.

Riot Points are scheduled to increase in price starting on Sept. 9, with Riot providing TFT players double bonus currency from all RP purchases from Aug. 23 to Sept. 8.

Here are the full notes for TFT Patch 11.17.

Patch 11.17 trait changes

The Sentinel trait will get a mini-rework, allowing players to choose which Sentinel champion gets the starting buff. The Sentinel champion with the most items will start with the buff, allowing players to protect their offensive or defensive carrier. The Spellweaver trait is getting a buff, along with adjustments to Legionnaire and Abomination.

Patch 11.17 champion balance changes

Three-cost TFT champions were hit with nerfs, as well as overperforming four and five-cost units. A number of minor changes were also made to compensate for the Set 5.5 trait reworks and for a healthier meta leading up to TFT Worlds.

Patch 11.17 item balance changes

Following a large number of Radiant item nerfs and buffs from Patch 11.16, the 11.17 update contains only a handful of changes. Giant Slayer was given an overall buff while small buffs were applied to the Hextech Gunblade shield and Gargoyle Stoneplate.

Patch 11.17 bug fixes

Players using the deploy to battlefield and return to bench hotkey will no longer be able to use it instantaneously. It previously made a player’s board “unscoutable,” according to the TFT team. Iven’s tooltip was fixed for Daisy and Aatrox heals himself even if his target dies mid-animation.

The TFT Set 5.5 update is scheduled to take place on Aug. 25. Some balance changes may be adjusted prior to the official release of Patch 11.17.

Update Aug. 25 at 11am CT: The article was updated to include last-minute Vel’Koz mana adjustment.
